I have been actively involved in learning and sharing women’s wisdom since 2003, when I first started attending births as a doula. Since then, my personal journey as a woman, wife, and mother has led me to explore the importance of self-care, positive body image, healthy boundaries, and the gifts of authentic communication. Supporting women through the transformational experience of the Motherhood rite of passage has taught me about the importance of women loving themselves and trusting their own inner knowing. Birthing and raising my own children has taught me the value of patience and joyful surrender.

I birthed my son at home in the water with midwives, fully supported by my husband and three doulas (one of which was my 2 month old goddess daughter!). The unwaivering faith that each person had in me and my body helped me through the rough points of labour, and the joy we shared while walking, dancing, singing, and welcoming my son will stay with me for my whole life. I birthed my daughter in the hospital due to health complications, and my experience showed me that birth can be beautiful, transformational, and ecstatic no matter where it happens. The meditation and yoga that I had practiced during her pregnancy kept me and my husband in a state of peace as she made her journey into the world.

I am passionate about offering to mamas and families the type of steady, joyful support that I experienced during my births. Each mother, father, and baby deserves to be listened to, honoured, and celebrated during this momentous rite of passage.

When not supporting mamas, Raina is a mentor for girls with the Maiden Star* coming of age program, a mentor and facilitator of Inner Maiden Red Tent retreats, and an apprentice herbalist with Emery Herbals.

Raina is certified to teach the 2-day Mini Sacred Pregnancy Retreats, the 8-week Pregnancy Journey classes + the 4-week Birth Journey classes.
